“The Lord has done great things for us. We are glad!” Psalm 126:3

There are few verses that capture the emotions we hold toward our journey of faith as concisely as Psalm 126:3. Over the past decade we’ve been carried along on an amazing ride, experiencing God’s faithfulness in countless ways. For this reason we rejoice and look forward to our next turn, the biggest interchange along our path thus far.

Having grown up in Lynwood to the founding Pastor and wife of a South Central church of 50+ years, and a single mother who spent just as much time caring for children and teens from the surrounding community as she did raising her own, Jamie and I were shaped from childhood to relate to and seek the welfare of Los Angeles; to love God, and our neighbors, and be willing to sacrifice for others wherever necessary.

In 2008 God confirmed and clarified His calling us as a ministry family. Hosting a home bible study and fellowship group awakened in me an ever growing desire to teach the Word, help grow and mature believers, spend unusual time in prayer for others, and otherwise labor in pastoral ministry. This led me to seeking out discipleship from faithful pastors and teachers, studying theology, and ultimately pursuing education in Biblical Counseling at The Master's College.

During my studies I learned just as much while on staff at the college as the Coordinator of Multicultural Student Advancement. Outside the classroom I spent most of my time discipling and counseling, mobilizing students for ongoing outreach, facilitating an annual semester course on the complexities of urban ministry, and developing an education program that enhanced the cross cultural competence of the campus. During this time Jamie also counseled young women as she studied missional living and personal discipleship courses. Through the time at TMC God refined His call on our lives and settled in us a burden to return to LA and even seek global opportunities to serve Him.

Over the course of the last year God began to transition us. First by uniting our hearts with a few other families around a passion to reach LA through the planting of a “glocal” church; our vision is to be a local church, with a global impact. Currently we’re all in transition –training for next summer’s soft launch and moving our families from around the nation to live together in community, seek revival, and see God multiply us as we seek to transform Los Angeles one family at a time and mobilize saints for missions locally and abroad. I’m currently interning alongside the Elders of Community of Faith Bible Church in South Gate. At the same time God has opened the door for me to engage in global missions by coordinating efforts to develop gospel centered mercy ministry in Africa with a nonprofit organization –Children’s Hunger Fund. This summer I completed trips to Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe serving the poor and training village pastors in bible study methods, gospel-centered compassion, and evangelism.

As you can tell these are big changes that only God could bring about.  Prayerfully the global missions, and the above long-lasting engagement in Los Angeles will be seen as our F.A.B.R.I.C. of life is woven into the lives of others. We would love it if you would pray for us; pray for the 3 families including ours who God has called to lead the way. Pray for our transition and adjustment. Pray for protection as we engage in front-line ministry in hard places. Pray for more laborers –“the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.” And pray for provision.

If you will commit to praying for us please let us know. In fact you can send us an email to famonmission@gmail.com and be added to our regular updates and prayer request list.

Thank you for supporting us through prayer and giving. Your care for our family is treasured.

Grace and peace,

Steve Ross c/o Jamie and The Ross Crew
